At the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sheung Wan, the statue stands alone in an open meadow while construction advances behind it. Cranes and scaffolding edge steadily upward into the sky. I was drawn to the staked trees in the foreground, which quietly diminish the monument despite its pedestal. Grey, green, and muted blue restrain the scene’s tension. Memory remains visible, yet its hierarchy feels unsettled.
