Near the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during its expansion in Wan Chai, torn earth and heavy machinery filled the foreground. Behind the site, the skyline rose in muted tones beneath a low grey sky. An excavator leans into the slope, yet nothing moves. Track marks curve across the soil; a rusted pipe lies diagonally; towers recede into haze. I remember the stillness. The city felt suspended, as if ground and skyline were holding their breath.
