Before Hysan Place was completed in Causeway Bay, a small tree emerged through a rectangular cutout in the hoarding. A billboard beside it read “live it,” accompanied by a kitten gazing upward, while a crane rose from the site behind. I noticed how the living tree pressed against the polished optimism of the advertisement. Exposed machinery reminded me that the ground was still unsettled. Projection and construction occupied the same frame.
